El Paso residents might want to keep their raincoats handy and their outdoor plans flexible this week, as the National Weather Service forecasts a wet few days. As reported by the National Weather Service, the current weather in El Paso is showing a few clouds with temperatures at a comfortable 73°F, but with scattered showers and thunderstorms on the horizon, that's expected to change.
According to the latest updates, conditions are mostly sunny with a high reaching near 93 degrees for the day. However, starting in the late afternoon, the chance of precipitation is 40%, suggesting that some El Pasoans may find themselves under surprise rainfall if not prepared. As evening creeps in, showers and thunderstorms are likely, mainly between 9 pm and 2 am, as per the National Weather Service. Accompanied by southeast winds of up to 25 mph, these storms could not only drench, but also deliver heavy rainfall.
The soggy pattern is predicted to persist into the week. For Tuesday, residents can expect a high of around 86 degrees, but with it comes a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Southeast winds will continue to flow between 11 to 16 mph, with gusts that can reach up to 23 mph. The advisory adds that the new rainfall could accumulate between a quarter and half of an inch.
As Wednesday rolls around, the script remains similar, with a high near 86 degrees and showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after noon. The chance of precipitation stays at a steady 70%, providing ample warning for anyone planning outdoor activities. The National Weather Service elaborates that these conditions are expected to carry on through Thursday, featuring a mix of partly sunny skies and a persistent prediction of more rain.
Looking towards the end of the week, Friday's outlook slightly improves with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon, and a high climbing near 90 degrees. Moving into the weekend, the area will ease into mostly sunny conditions, a welcome reprieve from the storms, although there remains a consistent, albeit lower, chance of rain through Sunday.
