El Paso ISD has named Bobby Stives as the joint principal for two of its prominent high schools, Irvin High School and Transmountain Early College High School (TMECHS). Stives, who is currently the principal at Irvin, is set to begin his dual role in the 2025–26 school year, as reported by El Paso ISD.

With an extensive background that spans over twenty years in secondary education, Stives is now preparing to quickly develop and extend a supportive network for the students of TMECHS. "Irvin gave me my foundation, and I’ve always believed in giving back to the community that raised me," Stives said, according to El Paso ISD. "Now, having the opportunity to also lead Transmountain Early College High School, a campus known for its rigorous academics and college-readiness focus, is an incredible honor."

A Northeast El Paso community native and a 1994 graduate of Irvin High School, Stives started his journey in education firstly as a substitute teacher, before he returned to his alma mater to teach business classes, post obtaining his alternative certification. He has since moved through the ranks of the education system, having served as assistant principal at various other high schools within the district.

Stives' commitment to the El Paso community is evident in his desire to habitually foster a sense of family and belonging at both the Irvin and TMECHS campuses. With this leadership change, both schools are poised to benefit from Stives' experience and passion for educational excellence. “I am eager to build relationships and foster a sense of family at both campuses,” Stives told El Paso ISD. His strategic thinking and love for the community where he grew up are seen as valuable assets as he takes on guiding two schools known for their academic rigor.
