Yesterday afternoon, several sailboats capsized on the Charles River near the Longfellow Bridge, prompting a response from local emergency services. According to the Cambridge Police Department, the incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. after reports were received of a small boat overturned.
As reported by WHDH, emergency crews arrived to find multiple sailboats in distress. The Cambridge Fire Marine Unit 2, along with Community Boating personnel, rescued two individuals from the water. Both were wearing life vests and were unharmed.
A Facebook post from the Cambridge MA Fire Department, shared by 857firephotos, confirmed that Group 3 was on duty during the rescue and highlighted the successful outcome.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the capsizing has not been determined, and further investigation is expected.
