The El Paso Community College (EPCC) Forum Theatre is gearing up to bring the whimsical world of Charles M. Schulz to life with the musical 'You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.' Scheduled to grace the stage in early July, this marks the first time the classic comic strip 'Peanuts' will be adapted by the EPCC Theatre. Directing the musical is EPCC Theatre Associate Professor Ted Karber Jr., under a special arrangement with Concord Theatricals, EPCC News reported.
The cast and crew are a mix of EPCC students and local high school talent from Chapin and Coronado High Schools. Ted Karber Jr. described the dynamic of working with diverse age groups, saying, "Our high school cast members bring excitement and openness to their roles while our EPCC cast members bring the same excitement mixed with the knowledge of the craft they have learned while working with us," as reported by EPCC News. The production promises to be a family-friendly event, allowing audiences to follow the beloved Peanuts characters as they sing and dance their way through the simple pleasures and trials of childhood.
Audiences can catch the performances at the EPCC Transmountain Forum Theatre, located at 9570 Gateway Blvd. North, with shows running from July 3 to 5 and July 10 to 12. Sunday matinees are also scheduled for July 6 and 13. According to EPCC, evening shows will start at 7:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with the Sunday shows starting at 2:00 p.m. The efforts of the production team, including musical director Cody Ritchey, Assistant Director and Stage Manager Colleen S. McCrary, Stage Designer Dominic Pagano, and Choreographer Jermey Edmonson, are set to be showcased.
Ticket prices for the musical are laid out as $10 for general admission, $8 for Seniors, Military, and EPCC Faculty & Staff, and with a valid ID, EPCC students receive one free ticket. As informed by EPCC, tickets can be purchased 30 minutes before showtime on the day of the performance at the Forum Theatre.
