A third-alarm fire broke out at a home on Devens Street in Everett, Massachusetts yesterday, prompting a large emergency response. According to Times Now News, firefighters were forced to conduct an exterior attack to contain the blaze, which was captured on social media showing heavy white smoke rising from the building.

The fire occurred during a period of extreme heat, with temperatures reaching over 100 degrees. Firefighters from multiple departments rotated crews to manage the conditions and ensure hydration. Everett Fire Chief Joe Hickey told WCVB, “Super hot out. Yeah, the heat was definitely a challenge. We had multiple firefighters evaluated for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation.” He added, “We actually had three transported from the scene as a precaution. A lot of hydration, a lot of rotation of crews. Unfortunately, that meant striking additional alarms.”

The fire started around 5 p.m. and displaced at least seven residents. One man inside the house at the time described his experience to WCVB, saying, “I went into the kitchen. The whole thing was ablaze. Like the whole kitchen, counters, everything was on fire. I tried to go out to the porch to see if it had spread, and that's when I got burned."

No further information has been released regarding injuries beyond those evaluated at the scene. Officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, and crews remain on site to monitor for hot spots.
