
In a significant drug bust, Everett, Massachusetts Police have reported the seizure of 1,500 grams of fentanyl. According to a social media post by the Everett Police Department, the arrest was made on Monday, in connection with a drug trafficking investigation targeting fentanyl distribution in the Greater Boston area.
This coordinated operation, led by the Everett Police Special Criminal Investigations Unit (SCIU), included executing several search warrants in Lynn and Swampscott. These efforts brought to light the arrest of Luis Alfredo Mercedes from Swampscott, MA. He is being charged with trafficking fentanyl over 200 grams. Police additionally confiscated approximately $1,500 in U.S. currency. "Luis was arrested and processed by the Lynn Police Department," the Everett Police Department affirmed in their statement.
Everett Chief of Police Paul D. Strong commended the collaborative forces on the success of the investigative operation. He stated, "This was another example of teamwork between departments and it also demonstrates the commitment and dedication of these departments to rid the streets of dangerous drugs." according to the Everett Police Department.
The capture and subsequent arrest would surely not have been possible without the assistance of local law enforcement partners. In his commendation, Chief Strong underscored the roles of Lynn, Swampscott, & Revere Police Departments, along with their respective K-9 units, including K9 Cooper from Everett and the Suffolk County Sheriff K-9 unit. These teams were instrumental in helping swiftly to execute the much-needed operation.
