A fatal accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Warren County this past Wednesday evening. The Ohio State Highway Patrol affirmed that 26-year-old Mathew Schmitz of Fairfield Township was pronounced dead at the scene after his motorcycle crashed on North Waynesville Road in Turtlecreek Township, according to a report by FOX19.
The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m. when Schmitz, riding a 2000 Honda CBR-600 motorcycle, failed to negotiate a curve and drifted off the roadway, where he struck a ditch and then a tree. Schmitz was the only person on the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet, the OSP elucidated. WLWT reported this information. Witnesses and emergency teams were quickly on the scene with Turtlecreek Township Fire Department, Clearcreek Fire District, Wayne Township Fire & EMS, and Jacob's Towing backing up the law enforcement response, which the Warren County Sheriff's Office coordinated.
