A homicide investigation is underway following a violent encounter yesterday afternoon in north St. Louis County. The occurrence, pinpointed at the intersection of West Florissant Avenue and Chambers Road in Dellwood, involved a shooting that led to a fatal car crash, as reported by KSDK.
Arriving at approximately 3 p.m., North County Cooperative officers encountered a scene signified by a maroon-colored vehicle that, crashed and littered with nearly two dozen evidence markers indicating possible bullet casings, was confirmed to contain a deceased person. FOX 2 News relayed that this discovery was associated with the homicide investigation. Having arrested a 23-year-old male suspect, authorities have yet to release further details, while officials identified the victim as a 19-year-old male.
The investigation follows the incident that transpired around 2:50 p.m., which resulted in not only the shooting but also a subsequent crash involving several vehicles. A privacy sheet was reportedly placed over one of the car's windows on scene to maintain discretion. At least 20 evidence markers were placed at the site, according to KSDK, with the intersection being temporarily blocked. Cpl. Benjamin Santoyo from the North County Police Cooperative confirmed the arrest and putting the deceased individual's age at approximately 20 years old, with more information promised for later release.
While taking the 23-year-old into custody, police officers were met at the scene by a multi-vehicle accident, several shell casings, and multiple weapons, according to a report by First Alert 4. All involved weaponry was recovered, and the incident continues to be actively investigated by the North County Police Cooperative.
