In what is described as an extensive worksite enforcement operation, federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Baton Rouge stormed nine massage businesses across the Baton Rouge metropolitan area. These parlors, suspected of hiding illicit activities under the guise of relaxation and therapy, were the targets of state criminal search warrants aimed at prostitution and pandering offenses, leading to the detainment of ten female Chinese nationals.
The sweep, occurring last Wednesday, was a serious multi-agency affair. It brought together not just HSI, but the Drug Enforcement Administration, the U.S. Border Patrol, and various other state and local entities. "Bulk cash and other evidence was seized during the operation and is actively being counted and analyzed," noted the ICE news release. The high-profile action also saw Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore actively participating and assisting HSI at their Baton Rouge command post.
