The Bay Area's barbecue scene just got spicier with the newest culinary mashup hitting San Francisco. Fikscue, the beloved Alameda hotspot known for its delicious merger of Indonesian flavors and Texas barbecue, is stoking the food fires at the Chase Center’s Thrive City plaza with the grand opening of its second location. Bringing its unique blend of halal smoked meats and Southeast Asian dishes, Fikscue is, as they announced on Fikscue's Instagram, "fired up and ready to serve you" starting tomorrow.
Owners Fik and Rekah Saleh have crafted a niche that's kept the lines long and the stomachs longing for more. According to a San Francisco Chronicle article, the Salehs' union of "dino" ribs, halal smoked brisket, and Indonesian classics such as rendang, a spiced coconut milk stew with brisket, and soto padang soup, has carved out its slice of the Bay Area barbecue pie.
The new space at 7 Warriors Way Suite 208 promises to offer something slightly different from the original, with an indoor seating area exclusive to the San Francisco location and a shared outdoor space with Harmonic Brewing. While the menu might see some tweaks, the core of what made Fikscue a sensation, such as the rendang plate heralded by Chronicle restaurant critic Cesar Hernandez as skillful stacking of flavors, remains a cornerstone.
