Flagstaff residents, mark your calendars and plan your routes accordingly: the Beulah Boulevard Roundabout is getting a facelift and will be temporarily out of commission. The City of Flagstaff, in partnership with contractor Eagle Mountain Construction and the Arizona Department of Transportation, is kicking off a striping project that will affect multiple roads. The work begins on Monday, June 30, with a full closure of the roundabout slated for July 2, and July 3 — just in time for it to reopen before the Independence Day holiday.
During this time, motorists can expect altered traffic patterns; while Milton Road will be accessible in both directions, some disruptions are inevitable — University Drive is only open to eastbound traffic and the westbound lane, especially from the Target driveway entrance to Milton Road, will be closed making detours a necessity for some. Access to and from University Avenue, soon to be rechristened Fresquez Avenue, from Milton Road will also be sealed off, but fear not, the authorities have given their assurance that adequate signage will guide the traffic efficiently through this maze of construction, as reported by the City of Flagstaff.
The initiative is part of a wider effort to update the road infrastructure and is expected to last through the summer, concluding in 2025. According to an article by the City of Flagstaff, work hours will span from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. In recognition of Independence Day, construction will pause on Friday, July 4, giving workers and residents alike a break from the upheaval.
For those seeking more information or wishing to contact the project team directly, the Project Hotline is available at (928) 255-5153, and up-to-date info can be obtained through the project's weekly eNewsletter by sending a request to [email protected]. The City of Flagstaff extends its gratitude for the public's patience and understanding as they navigate through the dust of progress, which in the end promises smoother roads and a more efficient transportation network for all who tread on Flagstaff's thoroughfares.
