As of today, officials from Silver Airways, a Broward-based airline, have confirmed that the airline will shut down all operations. The news follows the airline's announcement made earlier on Instagram, where the company stated, “In an attempt to restructure in bankruptcy, Silver entered into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company, who unfortunately determined to not continue Silver’s flight operations in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.” This update was reported by WSVN.
Patrons of the airline have been advised not to proceed to the airport, as all flights within Silver Airways' network have been grounded. The cessation of operations includes all flights departing from Tampa International Airport. The airline's announcement assured customers, “Please do not go to the airport. All credit card purchases should be refundable through your credit card company or your travel agency,” Silver Airways detailed these instructions in a release, covered by WFLA.
This cessation marks the end of Silver Airways' presence in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, where it previously operated flights predominately. It also signifies a casualty in the aviation sector, with Silver Airways being unable to successfully restructure following its December 30, 2024, bankruptcy filing. Despite efforts to secure additional capital and financial restructuring, the desired outcome for the airline's operation was not realized.
