Former Kennesaw State University (KSU) police officer Brandall Irving has been charged with battery and false imprisonment following an incident involving a campus staff member. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the charges were filed after a complaint earlier this month and internal investigation by the university. Irving was arrested on June 6 and later released on bond from the Cobb County Jail.
Irving had served at KSU since April 25, 2016, and was promoted to sergeant in 2021 after previously working with Cobb Police Department for three years. He was terminated from his position on the same day as his arrest.
WSBTV reports that the incident involved an argument during which Irving allegedly grabbed a female staff member by the waist, pushed her against his desk, closed the door, and blocked her from leaving for several minutes.
KSU officials stated that an internal investigation was conducted immediately after the complaint, resulting in Irving’s dismissal. The case is now moving forward through the legal process.
