Orlando authorities have apprehended a former Bishop Moore Catholic High School teacher following allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student. Jared Tatum, 31, who also served as a tutor, is facing charges of lewd touching of certain minors and attempted sexual battery on a victim over 12 years of age. This arrest follows an investigation prompted by a student's report to the school in early May.
The report emerged on May 7, when a student informed the school that Tatum had touched her inappropriately during a tutoring session, ClickOrlando reported. Following this accusation, Bishop Moore Catholic High School took immediate action, terminating Tatum's employment on May 16, before the arrest by the Orlando Police Department's Fugitive Investigative Unit.
In a public statement on the case provided to WFTV, the school confirmed that it had notified law enforcement as soon as it became aware of the incident and had subsequently dismissed Tatum from his teaching position. The police launched a thorough investigation involving "interviews, collected statements, and DNA results," according to information from ClickOrlando.
The Orlando Police Department, still piecing together the details of the case, maintains that currently, there is no evidence to suggest the presence of additional victims. Those with relevant information are encouraged to come forward as detectives press on with their inquiries, as was reported by WFTV.
