
A tragic incident occurred at the Hamilton Aquatic Center in Chandler, where a four-year-old boy died after being found submerged in a pool during a church event. According to the FOX 10 Phoenix report, the accident happened on Sunday, June 29, around 8:10 p.m. near Ocotillo Road and Arizona Avenue. The Chandler Police Department stated, "Lifeguards pulled a four-year-old boy from the pool after he was submerged for an undetermined amount of time."
Lifeguards at the scene attempted life-saving measures on the boy until first responders took over upon their arrival. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he unfortunately passed away. "The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation," police said, reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. As per information provided, the event took place after the normal operating hours of the aquatic center.
The young boy's identity has not been disclosed following the incident. ABC15 reports that Chandler fire officials responded to the pool upon receiving a drowning report. Found by lifeguards, the four-year-old was in a critical condition when he was transported to the hospital, wherein he later died.
It's still unclear how the boy ended up underwater. Around 60 people were at the church event when it happened, and authorities are still investigating what led to the drowning, as per FOX 10 Phoenix.
