
Tragedy struck Fremont last Friday when a shooting on Overacker Avenue left one person dead and another injured. The Fremont Police Department responded to reports of the incident at around 6:42 PM and discovered two shooting victims. Officers from both patrol operations and the Special Response Team (SRT) were dispatched to the scene.
One of the individuals was transported to an area trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the other victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced at the scene. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office is currently involved in identifying the deceased and notifying their next of kin. This violent episode marks Fremont’s first homicide in the year 2025, breaking what has been a peaceful stretch for the city.
