Last week, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) announced the creation of a new council focused on shaping agricultural policy. Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J. Harper has been named as a member of the America First Agriculture Commissioners and Secretaries Council, according to the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
The council brings together agriculture leaders from across the country to develop policy recommendations based on the former President Trump’s Farmers First Agenda. Harper stated he is committed to representing Georgia’s agricultural interests and highlighted the state’s significant role in national agriculture.
Other members of the council include Wes Ward of Arkansas, Chanel Tewalt of Idaho, and Don Lamb of Indiana. The council plans to address rural economic development, government regulations, and nutrition policy.
The America First Policy Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research organization, supports the council’s efforts. AFPI promotes public policy centered on American economic and social priorities, including agriculture.
