The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) has announced the appointment of Louis DeBroux III as Assistant Commissioner of the Office of Research, Strategic Planning and Government Relations, effective yesterday. According to a Georgia Department of Corrections press release, DeBroux will also serve as the department’s Legislative Liaison, responsible for promoting GDC’s legislative and policy priorities and coordinating with the Georgia General Assembly.

In this role, DeBroux will manage strategic planning and policy development, including the implementation of an agency tracking system for strategic initiatives. He will also oversee the Office of Research, Planning, and Analysis. Commissioner Tyrone Oliver stated that DeBroux’s experience in strategic development and legislative affairs will contribute to the department's operations.

DeBroux has held multiple leadership roles throughout his career. He worked in the private sector in merchandise management and operational oversight before joining the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL), where he served as External Affairs Specialist and later as Chief of Staff. In those roles, he managed operations and led capital improvement projects totaling \$1.7 million.

Following the death of Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson in 2024, DeBroux served as Interim Successor, overseeing GDOL’s network of 39 career centers. He now brings that experience to his new role at the Georgia Department of Corrections.
