Two 16-year-olds were arrested in Gwinnett County after leading police on a chase in a stolen minivan. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred on May 5, when a Gwinnett County Police Department analyst from the Situational Awareness Crime Response Center (SACRC) identified the stolen vehicle through surveillance.

After officers attempted a traffic stop, the teens allegedly fled and later crashed. They then tried to escape on foot but were quickly caught and arrested. According to police, both teens are facing multiple charges, including firearm possession and traffic-related offenses.

The SACRC’s surveillance capabilities played a key role in the arrest. “Our analyst at the SACRC unit was able to zoom into this vehicle, see that the occupants were in the vehicle, (and) direct officers to that intersection,” Cpl. Juan Madiedo told WSBTV.

Gwinnett County officials say the expanding surveillance network continues to help track stolen vehicles, locate suspects, and assist in finding missing or vulnerable individuals.
