An 18-year-old from Hanover Park has been charged with reckless homicide following a crash last November that resulted in the death of a female driver. Adrian Pleban was also charged with two counts of aggravated reckless driving causing great bodily harm, as detailed by a statement from DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin and Bloomingdale Director of Public Safety Frank Giammarese.
The charges stem from an incident on November 1, 2024, when Pleban, driving at significantly high speeds exceeding the limit by more than 35 mph, failed to slow down and collided with a Ford Bronco on Gary Avenue, as per the official statement. The crash fatally injured the other vehicle's driver, and the passenger suffered from multiple fractures and contusions.
"First and foremost, I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the victim in this very sad case," said Berlin in the statement. He further stressed the importance of driving responsibly, especially with the approaching Fourth of July holiday. Frank Giammarese echoed these sentiments, offering condolences and thanking the police and prosecution team for their involvement in uncovering the details of the crash.
Pleban turned himself in to authorities on June 25, 2025, and was released following his court appearance with the condition where he is prohibited from operating a motor vehicle. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 21, 2025, before Judge Ann Celine O'Hallaren Walsh.
