
The Henderson Police Department has identified Officer Michael Stevens as the officer involved in the shooting that happened last Thursday on the 3800 block of Casa Colorado Avenue. The department released the information two days after the incident. Officer Stevens has been with the department since July 2015 and is part of the Operations Support Division. He is currently on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure. This is the second officer-involved shooting in Henderson this year, according to the City of Henderson.
A shooting incident in Henderson followed a burglary investigation that began last Wednesday. Police were looking into a stolen vehicle reported on Imperia Drive, which led them to a neighborhood in Southeast Las Vegas. On the morning of the following day, while serving a search warrant, Henderson police’s SWAT team encountered a 71-year-old man. During the operation, shots were fired. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, as reported by Hoodline.
Henderson police are investigating a shooting that happened after a vehicle was stolen last Wednesday around 5:40 p.m. Officers went to serve a warrant, and during the encounter, an elderly man was shot and killed. Sgt. Daniel Medrano said, "While serving the warrant, engaging with the elderly man led to shots being fired," as mentioned by Hoodline.
