A family in Hingham is dealing with the aftermath of an incident involving an AI-generated nude image of their daughter that was circulated among students at Hingham Middle School. According to Boston 25 News, Megan Mancini, the student's mother, filed a Title IX complaint with the school district after learning the student responsible would not face disciplinary action.

The complaint, submitted in January, received a response in April. The district acknowledged as the "conduct was inappropriate and hurtful, there is insufficient evidence to conclude it occurred in the District’s schools," determining that the student had not violated the district’s Title IX policy, Boston.com reported.

Mancini said the student who created the image is not being disciplined. She also said the family remains concerned about the possibility of the image resurfacing online. They are using Take It Down, a free website aimed at removing such content from the internet.

The case involves a deepfake pornographic image created and shared by another student, raising questions about how schools handle technology-based harassment. Boston 25 News spoke with local legal analyst Peter Elikann, who explained that such actions may be prosecutable in juvenile court under Massachusetts laws addressing revenge porn and sexting.

Mancini told that her daughter experienced severe emotional distress as a result of the incident and that the image looked realistic. She expressed concern about the lack of response from school officials and emphasized the importance of raising awareness about such cases.

As of now, Hingham Public Schools have not made a public statement regarding the incident or the complaint. No further updates from school officials or legal actions have been reported.
