Two brothers in Hollywood, Florida, are dealing with the theft of their food truck, which was stolen from Extra Space Storage on South State Road 7. Sohail Shadimhr and Oroud Jahangiri had planned to use the truck to start a family business and build a path to independence. According to 7News, Sohail had noted that "This was a way for us to do something as brothers."
The stolen vehicle, bought on May 30 and valued at $25,000, also housed about $3,000 worth of equipment. For Oroud, who has cerebral palsy, the truck was more than a business; it was the promise of self-reliance. He confessed to 7News, "I was very excited, because finally I was going to be on my own feet." Shadimhr lamented the incident in an interview reported by NBC Miami, saying "It was supposed to be a partnership that unfortunately at this point, just by one act it pretty much wrecked two lives almost."
The brothers planned to serve Persian kabobs and family recipes from their food truck. But after it was stolen—along with a generator case Sohail was working on—their dream is now on hold as they consider their next steps. As he described the setup of the generator case to 7News, "So the generator was going to go inside here with the tank."
In response to the break-in, Extra Space Storage has reportedly cooperated with law enforcement, providing security camera footage and information to aid the investigation. As captured by 7News, the company emphasized, “We are working with local authorities on their investigation of this uncommon break-in. We’ve provided law enforcement with security camera footage and information, which we hope will lead to a resolution quickly. Security is a top priority for Extra Space Storage, and we will be reviewing to see how we could improve security in this usual situation.”
Jahangiri's yearning for the way things could have been, expressed during the sorrow of the situation, echoes deeply: "I really want to get it back. If I could get it back, that’d be like magic," he told 7News.
