Authorities in Westerly, Rhode Island, have identified human remains found near Taylor Swift's home as those of 31-year-old Eric Wein from Massachusetts. According to MassLive, the remains were discovered on May 14 after washing ashore near the pop star’s property. Wein had been missing since April 10, when his vehicle was found abandoned.
Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella told FOX News there is no suspected foul play and no evidence linking the case to any broader criminal activity. “As far as I'm concerned, as far as right now, this has nothing to do with any serial killer [or] any New England murderer,” he said. The police have concluded their investigation.
The discovery came amid heightened public concern due to several bodies found across New England since March. Officials and family members, including those of Michele Romano—whose body was found in Foster, Rhode Island—have denied any connections between the cases.
Taylor Swift bought the home, known as “Holiday House,” in 2013. Recently, MassLive reported that proposed legislation referred to as the "Taylor Swift tax" could require owners of high-value, non-primary residences to pay additional taxes. If enacted, Swift may owe approximately $136,000 annually on the property.
