Over the past weekend, IMPD and ISP have continued their diligent efforts to enforce legal driving and mitigate dangerous behavior on the roads in Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Details shared by IMPD News revealed an operation that resulted in several arrests and citations, signaling a strong stance against hazardous driving.
Specifically, law enforcement agencies were successful in making at least eight arrests, issuing 29 citations, and impounding two vehicles. Incidents over the weekend included an assembly of about 60 cars involved in unlawful driving activities. Despite their efforts to scatter upon the arrival of an ISP helicopter, officers managed to conduct rolling roadblocks and detained drivers participating in speed contests. At least one arrest occurred in Boone County, followed by half a dozen more by officials in Lebanon and Whitestown.
The crackdown continued into Sunday, when officers on patrol recognized a motorcycle speeding over 100 MPH on the interstate. Unbeknownst to the motorcyclist, an ISP helicopter maintained visibility and tracked the individual to a parking lot off I-74 and Post Road. This led to the arrest of the driver for reckless driving and the impounding of the motorcycle.
