Tragedy struck yesterday in Johns Creek, where a pedestrian was fatally injured in a vehicle collision. Police were called to the scene at approximately 6:35 a.m. after reports of the crash on McGinnis Ferry Road, just west of Technology Circle. The victim, 53-year-old Kevin Choi, was pronounced dead at the site of the accident, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
While the driver involved was not hurt, they were detained for questioning and subsequently released by the authorities; no charges have been filed, at present. According to the reporting from FOX 5 Atlanta, Johns Creek Police Department’s Traffic Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The traffic flow was disrupted by the event, with eastbound lanes near the crash site closed to give way to the investigation and, drivers were advised to seek alternate routes.
The incident was widely disseminated via social media, with the Johns Creek Police Department posting about the situation on their Facebook page at 7:30 a.m. Although initial details were scarce, 11Alive confirmed with authorities that they were addressing a fatality and the impacted area has since been shut down to traffic.
