This morning, tragedy struck on Dickerson Pike as two separate shootings occurred mere minutes and blocks apart, resulting in the death of a juvenile and critical injuries to a woman. WKRN reports that the Metro Nashville Police Department was called to the Buffalo Trail Apartments at approximately 1:16 AM, where they found a young boy fatally wounded by gunfire.
Shortly thereafter, a woman with gunshot wounds sought help at a nearby gas station, in the 3800 block of Dickerson Pike; she subsequently was transported to the hospital exhibiting serious injuries, as per WSMV. Officials have assured the local community that there is no further threat; however, this does little to assuage the echoing distress that such violence imparts on a neighborhood.
Police are actively investigating the clear proximities between both the locations and timings of the two shootings. FOX 17 News has shared that while it is currently uncertain whether both shootings originated at the apartment complex or occurred at separate sites, the connection between the incidents is a prevailing theory amongst investigators.
Additionally, the investigation is complicated by the yet undetermined identity of the male victim, believed to be a juvenile, and the lack of suspect information having been released at this time. Upon the completion of the initial response, the gas station and a portion of the apartment complex remained cordoned off as detectives poured into the morning to piece together the events that led to this calamity.
