In a move hailed by pet owners, Kingsport's Dogwood Park has recently overhauled its membership system, ensuring a year's worth of romps and frolics beginning from the sign-up date. Previously hinged to the fiscal calendar, the renewed approach caters to the convenience of both human and canine members. According to the park's announcement, the change aims to provide "greater value to residents" and sidestep the complications tied to the old structure.
Representing the park's administration, Laura Williams conveyed that the prior system was neither "user-friendly" nor "cost effective for some dog owners." Against this backdrop, the park's gates now open to an all-encompassing membership that sets a level playing field, regardless of the registration date, for the city's canine contingent. Touted by Williams, "all members and their dogs will have a full year of access for one low cost," as mentioned in the park's announcement.
Dog owners, Kingport city dwellers have their fees pegged at $25 for the first dog and $15 per additional tail-wagger. Meanwhile, those residing beyond city limits aren't left out in the fetching deal, with a slightly higher tally of $30 and $20 for the first and subsequent dogs, respectively. Convenience is further amplified through a tech-savvy twist—an app that controls park entry, leaving open the option of physical access cards for a nominal fee.
Registrations for the park can be conveniently managed by visiting their website or through the CivicRec link available in the Connect Kingsport app—truly a testament to the city's dogged devotion to technological ease. Situated at 800 Granby Road, Dogwood Park has been a haven for pets since its establishment in December 2008, adjacent to the Hunter Wright Stadium. With its three acres partitioned for both petite pooches and their larger kin, it affords a secure, off-leash environment rife with amenities including restrooms, water stations, waste disposals, seating, and even agility gear for the adventurous.
