Early morning yesterday, a confrontation unfolded at a Kingston McDonald's drive-thru when two juveniles displayed what appeared to be a gun to an employee, prompting a rapid police response. According to WATE, the Kingston Police Department was alerted to the incident on North Kentucky Street involving a potential armed threat.
WBIR reported that officers identified a 2008 Honda Accord matching the caller’s description in the drive-thru. After attempting to leave the scene, the vehicle was stopped, and the occupants were detained. Police confirmed that the driver, a 16-year-old male wearing a black balaclava, and his 14-year-old passenger were found with a Glock-style airsoft gun and open containers of alcohol.
Video evidence reviewed by officers confirmed the airsoft gun had been shown to the employee. According to WVLT, both juveniles were transported to the Roane County Juvenile Detention Facility and charged with aggravated assault and underage alcohol consumption.
The Kingston Police Department stated that no injuries were reported. The airsoft gun, which resembled a real firearm, was recovered at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
