During a traffic stop on Saturday, Knoxville Police Department's CERT officers seized over 180 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Officers stopped 32-year-old Markese Stovall on James Avenue around 5:15 p.m. due to a brake light issue, as per the Knoxville Police Department's Facebook post.

Upon exiting his Kia Optima, officers observed a visible object in Stovall’s pocket, which was identified as a large quantity of suspected methamphetamine. A search of the vehicle later revealed a handgun and additional drugs. Stovall attempted to flee after officers secured the suspected narcotics but was quickly apprehended.

Stovall is facing several charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Schedule II drug violations, driving with a revoked license, and resisting arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
