Looking ahead to Thursday, the forecast anticipates a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms post 2pm, despite the predominance of mostly sunny conditions and a high that's expected to reach around 86 degrees. Thursday night may also bring its share of rain, with chances of showers and thunderstorms before 11 PM, followed by a mostly cloudy sky and lows hovering around 68 degrees.
The precipitation pattern continues into Friday, with the NWS predicting a 60 percent chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm in the afternoon. While the day may start partly sunny with calm winds, these will shift southwest around 5 mph later. Showers are likely to intensify come Friday night, carrying a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms before 8 PM, followed by a consistent threat of rain extending into the early hours.
Knoxville residents should prepare for more wet weather over the weekend. "Showers and possibly a thunderstorm" are on the docket for Saturday with a high of about 81 degrees and increased wind speeds, coming from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph. The likelihood of rain remains high at 80 percent and does not relent much into the night, with similar weather conditions extending into Sunday, per the National Weather Service.
Sunday's forecast reveals a slightly reduced chance of showers at 50 percent, with potential thunderstorms cropping up after 2 PM, while mostly cloudy environment may keep temperatures around the 82-degree mark. The same pattern more or less spills into the beginning of next week, with Monday featuring a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms amidst mostly sunny conditions, and Tuesday continuing the trend with more chances of rain.
