The Knoxville Police Department is actively seeking 23-year-old Knoxville resident Amauri Adams, who is currently wanted for charges including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and evading arrest. According to a social media post from the Knoxville Police Department, Adams' legal trouble began after a seemingly routine traffic stop due to his failure to wear a seat belt spiraled into a dangerous situation this past Saturday on Catalpa Avenue.
The events unfolded when Adams, having been pulled over, was observed by officers as he appeared to attempt to conceal an item beneath the driver's seat. Officers approached Adams' vehicle and noticed a large black duffel bag, which seemed to contain prepackaged marijuana. It was at this point that Adams managed to start his vehicle and make to hastily escape, pushing two officers out of the car in the process. No officers sustained injuries during the incident. The vehicle in question was later recovered by the authorities.
Currently, the Knoxville Police Department is reaching out to the public for assistance in locating Adams. They advise anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers, ensuring anonymity, at (865) 215-7165. Incentivized by the potential for a cash reward, the department hopes that tips from the community could lead to the successful apprehension of Adams. Citizens are reminded that providing aid to Adams could, itself, result in criminal charges.
