Travelers in Vermilion Parish will need to adjust their routes as the LA 339 bridge, positioned roughly 0.40 miles north of LA 14, has been shut down indefinitely for pressing structural repairs. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has confirmed the immediate closure, emphasizing that the structure is now off-limits to all traffic until further notice, including emergency vehicles which will not be able to access the area.
This unexpected closure is bound to inconvenience local commuters and disrupt usual traffic patterns. The DOTD has put up a detour that includes LA 14 and LA 338 to help drivers navigate around the closed bridge. Motorists are advised to add some extra time to their journeys and to remain vigilant for detour signs.
According to the announcement, DOTD is calling for public patience while the necessary repairs are being made. Safety remains a top priority, as the department urges drivers "to please drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment."
