Las Cruces is in for a summer treat as the local police department teams up with Raising Cane’s to bring the community together over lunch and lemonade. The Las Cruces Police Department’s Community Outreach Team is set to launch the first Lunchbox Lemonade event of 2025, encouraging folks to gather, chow down, and chat up local officers about safety concerns, all while kids enjoy the relief of a splash pad. This community engagement initiative will kick off on June 5th at the Plaza de Las Cruces Splash Pad.
The series provides a relaxed setting for residents to have face-to-face conversations with the officers entrusted to protect and serve them. It's also an opportunity to openly discuss grievances, perspectives, or questions regarding police matters. According to the City of Las Cruces, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Plaza de Las Cruces Splash Pad located at 100 N. Main St. So pack up a lunch, bring the little ones, and prepare to get to know your local community officers better.
The Lunchbox Lemonade isn't a one-off happening, it's a recurring opportunity throughout the summer months. Other dates and locations for Las Cruces residents to mark on their calendars include June 12 at Metro Verde Splash Pad, June 26 at Unidad Park Splash Pad, with additional meet-ups in July and August. While participants should bring their meals, they can look forward to complimentary popsicles provided by the LCPD and free lemonade courtesy of Raising Cane’s.
