Heads up, late-night drivers—there's an emergency road closure you'll want to avoid. Mounes Street, a well-traveled thoroughfare, will be completely inaccessible in both directions at the junction of Sams Boulevard. Today, from the dark, early hours at 1:00 a.m. to a hopefully less inconvenient 3:00 a.m., Entergy is stepping in to handle some urgent business, as per the Jefferson Parish website.
The brief but complete shutdown of this segment of Mounes Street is to swiftly perform emergency repairs. Entergy, the energy company in charge, needs to fix up some damaged equipment that's too pressing to wait until daylight. Although the closure will inconvenience some, it's planned to be over before most of our alarm clocks have even had the chance to gently wake us from our slumber. The work, which is noted to be at the mercy of our often fickle weather, is expected to be wrapped up neatly by 3:00 a.m., if the elements decide to cooperate.
Now, for those caught in the late-night grind, re-routing your journey is a must. Alternative streets will become temporary companions for night owls and graveyard shift workers. The energy company's efforts to restore and maintain the grid cannot be delayed, and thus we must all adapt, albeit briefly, to the rhythms of infrastructural necessity.
