Residents of Lawrenceville can get an early start on Independence Day festivities at the annual Prelude to the Fourth event, scheduled for July 2 at the Lawrenceville Lawn. A local favorite, the celebration will feature a full lineup of activities, performances by three bands, and a fireworks display to close out the evening.
Mayor David Still seems to be counting the days, saying, "Prelude to the Fourth is one of my favorite summer traditions in Lawrenceville". He’s a fan of live music, family-friendly fun, and the high-flying pyrotechnics that capture the spirit of Lawrenceville. According to a statement shared on the City of Lawrenceville’s website, he expressed his enthusiasm for the event.
Festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with food trucks offering a variety of options. The event will also feature inflatables, stage games, and an opportunity to write letters to service members through Operation Gratitude. Additionally, community members are invited to submit their favorite family recipes to the America250 Community Cookbook. Live music kicks off at 6:00 p.m. with Blue Velvet Atlanta taking the stage, followed by performances from Late Night Special and OK3, leading up to the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs, as seating is not provided and space on the lawn is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those planning to drive to the event will find more than 1,100 free parking spaces available throughout downtown Lawrenceville. The City of Lawrenceville has provided a parking map to help visitors locate the most convenient spots. However, road closures will be in effect from 11:30 a.m. until approximately 10:30 p.m. on event day, so carpooling is strongly encouraged.
