
Lightning strikes caused a stir at New Smyrna Beach last Friday, resulting in three people being hit in separate incidents. Officials have reported that emergency crews were first dispatched to the Venetian Bay golf course in response to a lightning strike that indirectly affected two golfers.
The city of New Smyrna Beach confirmed the incident, highlighting that neither of the golfers required hospitalization, as per a statement provided to ClickOrlando.
Additionally, a 29-year-old man was struck by lightning in a separate event, adding to the tally of lightning-related accidents in the area that day. The man, found in ankle-deep water around 12:30 p.m., required immediate life-saving procedures, with emergency responders performing CPR at the scene. He was quickly transported to the hospital, but his condition at the time remained unclear, according to WESH.
