Lil Wayne, the prolific rapper and New Orleans native, is set to heat the summer with his latest concert tour, "Tha Carter VI Tour," which is slated to hit Phoenix in August. The album "Tha Carter VI" is scheduled to drop on June 6, coinciding with the start of his North American tour in New York, as reported by ABC15. Fans in Phoenix can circle August 29 on their calendars when the rapper will take the stage at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre.
Joining Weezy onstage are “Taste” hitmaker Tyga and Atlanta’s own Belly Gang Kushington, giving fans a nostalgic dose of Young Money’s legacy. With this duo backing Lil Wayne, the event doubles as a pseudo-reunion of the influential label, according to Billboard. General ticket sales open June 6 at 10 a.m.
The "Tha Carter VI" album is Wayne's first solo project since "Funeral" in 2020, which debuted at the top spot on the Billboard 200, with the previous three Carter series albums also reaching chart-topping success, as per Billboard. Weezy cleverly stirred anticipation for this album as early as the Cetaphil Super Bowl spot, later confirming the release date in April.
