The city's annual Fall Coach Pitch registration has officially opened its doors to kids between the ages of 7 and 8. In a refreshing change of pace from the online world, families have the option to sign up their budding stars in person, or they can still opt for the convenience of registering over the phone at 623-935-9040, or clicking here to register online.
The Jackie Robinson Ball Field, named after the iconic player known for breaking Major League Baseball's color barrier, will once again serve as the playing grounds for the young athletes. With the first game slated for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, parents should mark their calendars and prepare for an autumn filled with sportsmanship and fun. Practices, to be scheduled by the teams' volunteer head coaches, will be held on a Monday or Wednesday, as the city doesn't assign these sessions for the teams.
Games will punctuate each week on the schedule, being held either Tuesday or Thursday, allowing for a consistent rhythm of play and improvement. While the practice fields will be kissed by the sun, bathed in the arid Litchfield Park air, the games at Jackie Robinson Ball Field promise to be a theatre for the neighborhood's youth to not only strike, pitch, and run, but also to grow in camaraderie and commitment.
