In a somber turn of events in Lincoln Heights, a dispute between two men known to each other ended with one man dead and the other facing murder charges. The fatal shooting occurred early yesterday morning, as reported by FOX 19. Deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Woodlawn police responded to a residence in the 900 block of Byrd Avenue just after 8:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a man claiming to have just shot his boyfriend.
The victim, identified as Terrell Howell, was critically injured and rapidly taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Despite attempts to quickly save Howell's life, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Timothy Shoulders, the alleged shooter, is now under arrest and has been charged with murder and felonious assault. A law enforcement body camera captured Shoulders stating, “he was the person who shot Mr. Howell,” shedding light on the affirmation directly from the incident, according to an affidavit quoted by FOX 19.
Details from the sheriff's office indicated that the shooting was not random and occurred in front of a witness. WLWT has described the incident as "an isolated incident." This tragic event took place within the confines of a home where Shoulders rented and where Howell had returned to retrieve his personal belongings. Tensions escalated as the two men began to argue during Howell's retrieval of his items.
As reported by FOX 19, a witness account asserts that after asking Shoulders for his wallet, Howell was faced with Shoulders drawing a handgun. "Mr. Howell questioned Timothy Shoulders why he had a gun, at which time one shot was fired by Timothy Shoulders toward Mr. Howell," per the sheriff’s detective's affidavit. Shoulders is currently being held without bond at the Hamilton County jail and is expected to appear in court at 9 a.m. today, according to details shared by the sheriff's office.
