Early this morning in Southwest Atlanta, a man was fatally shot outside a home on New Hope Road. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, police responded around 4 a.m. to reports of gunfire near the intersection with Cascade Road and found the man deceased in the driveway.
As per the 11Alive, investigators believe the shooting began during a gathering in a garage. An argument reportedly led to the gunfire. The victim, believed to be in his late 30s and not yet publicly identified, walked a few steps before collapsing outside the residence. A family member at the scene called 911.
Atlanta Police Department homicide detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and reviewing doorbell camera footage. Police found drugs and weapons inside the home.
Lt. Andrew Smith of APD told 11Alive, “It appears a group of individuals were in the garage, and the shooting took place in the garage. The decedent walked a few steps into the driveway and collapsed.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Atlanta Police Department.
