A confrontation late Tuesday night during a narcotics operation has resulted in the fatal shooting of a man by law enforcement officers in Whitfield County, as confirmed by both the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Dalton Police Department. The deceased has been identified as Jonathan Zuccarini.
According to releases from the involved departments, reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the shooting occurred around 10:40 p.m. on River Road, near the Whitfield-Murray County line. The officers were participating in an undercover narcotics investigation. During the operation, Zuccarini reportedly pointed a gun at the officers, which led to them discharging their weapons. Zuccarini was transported to Hamilton Medical Center after the incident but was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
