A deadly incident occurred last night on I-70 in Frederick County, Maryland, leaving one man deceased and prompting an investigation by the Maryland State Police. Fox Baltimore reported that the shooting happened at approximately 11:55 p.m., near Maryland Route 27.
Authorities have identified the victim as 20-year-old Eduardo Alexander Alvarado Urrea from Silver Spring, Maryland. Urrea, who was the driver of a 2018 GMC Sierra pickup truck found at the scene, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
According to the Maryland State Police, the incident involved gunfire from another vehicle targeting the victims' truck shortly after they left an event at the Frederick Fairgrounds around 11:40 p.m. The vehicle was carrying six people at the time of the event, all of whom were inside the vehicle during the shooting, as stated by Fox Baltimore. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a trauma center with gunshot injuries.
One passenger was assessed on-site and declined medical treatment, police said, and the remaining three passengers reported no injuries.
