A man died after a shooting on Tuesday night in Southeast Memphis. Memphis Police officers responded shortly after 10:30 p.m. to the Park at New Castle apartments in the 6800 block of Birch Lake Drive, according to WREG.

A man with a gunshot wound was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. A local resident, Desmond Isbell, told WREG, “It’s kind of tragic. It really is. I wish it wasn’t like that. Just focus on school, man. Focus on taking care of your parents, loving your family, reaching out to other people. Helping somebody might help you in the future.”

A shooting occurred near Five Colonies Lane in Southeast Memphis and is currently under investigation.
