An investigation is underway after a man’s body was found in a Buckhead creek early Friday morning last week. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, emergency crews responded to Woodward Way around 6:40 a.m. and located the body near the Howell Mill Road bridge. The body was recovered from the water shortly before 8:30 a.m.
The man, who has not yet been identified, was initially reported to show signs of trauma. However, Atlanta Police later clarified that their preliminary investigation found no visible trauma and it is still unclear how he entered the water.
The incident caused traffic delays on Howell Mill Road and affected MARTA transit services in the area, as reported by Atlanta News First.
Atlanta Fire Rescue and swift water rescue teams led the recovery. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office is working to identify the individual and determine the cause of death. The investigation remains ongoing, and Atlanta Police have stated that more information will be released as it becomes available.
