A man was hospitalized after being stabbed near MARTA’s North Avenue station in Midtown Atlanta yesterday late afternoon. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, police responded to the intersection of W Peachtree Street NE and North Avenue NE, where they found a 46-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. Authorities reported that he was alert and conscious when taken for medical treatment.
Following the incident, service disruptions occurred at the Civic Center MARTA station as investigators closed off parts of the area to gather evidence. Police believe the altercation may have started as a verbal dispute, but no suspects have been identified or arrested at this time.
"The incident did not occur on MARTA," a MARTA police spokesperson confirmed, noting that Atlanta police are handling the investigation. Atlanta News First reported that MARTA’s northbound and southbound rail lines experienced delays due to nearby police activity.
Authorities continue to review surveillance footage and interview witnesses to determine what led to the stabbing. The investigation remains ongoing.
