
Early this morning, the peace of downtown Cincinnati's Central Business District was shattered when a shooting occurred on Walnut Street, resulting in the injury of one man and a subsequent road closure that has impacted local traffic patterns. LOCAL12 reported that police had taped off an area between 8th Street and Central Parkway following the incident, which took place around 5 a.m.
According to WCPO, the victim is a Black male aged between 38 and 42 who was shot in the side, officers on the scene shared early details about the victim, noting that there was a blood trail that led from the scene of the shooting at 8th and Walnut to where the victim finally collapsed near Central Parkway which is currently closed, WCPO will provide updates as the story develops. Details on the victim's condition remain unknown at this time.
In a statement obtained by WLWT, authorities disclosed that the male victim suffered gunshot wounds to the left side of his chest, and his left hip and was transported to UC Medical Center. Despite the early morning hours when the streets are less crowded, the gunshots interrupted the calm with the abrupt violence that led to the victim running from the initial location down to where he eventually collapsed, the exact reasons behind the incident and who was responsible for it are still subjects of ongoing police investigations.
