Last night, a 24-year-old man was the unfortunate target of gunfire in Atlanta's own 1380 Donnelly Avenue NW. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) reported that the incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m., offering a grim reminder that peace in our streets often hangs by a thread. The APD arrived at the scene to find the young man with a gunshot wound to his right arm, thankfully alert and breathing. He was swiftly taken to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.
The initial reports indicate the victim was inside a residence when the bullets, uninvited and unwelcome, invaded the walls to find their mark. The authorities quickly took to investigate, with the Aggravated Assault Unit stepping in to unwaveringly consider the circumstances that led a bullet to so casually sever the calm of an Atlanta evening. The Atlanta Police Department stated, "the preliminary investigation indicates that the male was inside of a residence at the location when he was struck by gunfire which came from outside of the location."
The investigation is still unfolding, with detectives piecing together the fragmented calm to paint a picture that might explain why and how a night came to be shattered by gunfire.
As of now, the APD has not released any suspects or motives in the shooting, as they continue to thoroughly sift through the details that hope to lead to an answer, and possibly, to justice. "The investigation remains ongoing at this time," the Atlanta Police Department reports.
