Manchester Police are investigating a violent incident that unfolded in the vicinity of 138 Orange Street, as reported in a social media post by the department. Yesterday, officers responded to reports of an assault at approximately 3:45 PM. According to the caller, a person was forcibly removed from a car and attacked. The responding officers found a victim with minor injuries indicating an assault had taken place.
Further inquiry revealed that the altercation began when the victim was approached in a driveway by two men, one of whom was banging on the driver's side window before pulling the victim from the car and commencing to assault him. One of the assailants reportedly brandished a gun during the assault. The assailants then took the victim to an upstairs apartment but released him as soon as the police arrived. A connection between the victim and one of the perpetrators was established, suggesting the assault was targeted rather than random.
One of the suspects has been identified and apprehended by police. Christian Edwards, a 33-year-old Manchester resident, now faces multiple charges including Criminal Threatening with a deadly weapon, Kidnapping, Witness Tampering; Induce Another, Hand Guns Changing Marks – Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and two counts Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. The arrest was detailed in a Facebook post made public by Manchester Police.
The assault follows a fatal stabbing that occurred the previous day at the same Orange Street address. Investigators are exploring the possibility that these two grievous events are not isolated but rather are intertwined in some way that has yet to surface.
