A Massachusetts State Police trooper was hospitalized last night after his cruiser overturned on Interstate 495. According to Boston 25 News, the single-vehicle crash happened near the Lowell Connector in Tewksbury just before 7 p.m. while the trooper was responding to an incident. He was able to exit the vehicle and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash occurred as state police were responding to several incidents on I-495 that evening. WHDH reported that part of the highway was closed following the accident and later reopened once the scene was cleared.
Massachusetts State Police confirmed the crash will be investigated according to department policy. The cause has not been released, and the names of those involved have not been made public.
